John Hickman | President – Term: 3/19/16 until 3/31/18

John has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2004, when he completed his studies at the Institute for Therapeutic Massage & Movement.   His interest in massage & bodywork dovetails nicely with many other interests he has, from martial arts & exercise to self-improvement & organizational leadership.  After years of helping clients help themselves, he is excited to have the opportunity to help the AMTA Membership and the massage profession as a whole, both of which have given him so much over the years.

He served as an HOD Delegate in 2009, 2013 and 2014 is grateful to the AMTA-TN Membership which has elected him in March of 2015 as the 3rd vice president.

Tina Bridges | Board Member – Term: 3/4/17  until 3/31/19

Tina retired from the military after 23yrs and she decided to embark on her second career as a massage therapist. After a long search, she chose the Mind Body Institute for their first time pass rate of the National test. She discovered the “family atmosphere” was what she missed. Tina joined the AMTA Tennessee Chapter while she was a student at MBI.  Tina has enjoyed serving all the TN AMTA members as House of Delegates and 3rd Vice President.  She currently is the chapter’s 1st Vice President.  Her life has turned full circle, in 2013 she joined MBI as an instructor.

After working for Bodyworks Emporium for 4 years she opened her own practice in the Nashville Athletic Club in 2004 and then moved her practice to Prairie Life Fitness in Cool Springs in 2013.

Currently she serves as the 2nd VP and Government Relations Chair (held since 2008) for the AMTA TN chapter.   As part of her duties with the Government Relations Chair she attends all the massage licensure board meetings to make sure that the AMTA TN members receive the most current and accurate information.

Tia graduated from the Mind Body Institute in 2015. She works in Mt Juliet at Aqua Bella as well as around the greater Nashville area performing both chair and table services. Tia enjoys learning all things massage and volunteering in her free time.

Lori Schrader | House of Delegates Delegate – Term: 3/19/16 until 3/31/18

Randy Cotterell | House of Delegates Delegate– Term: 3/4/17 until 3/30/19
Randy has been practicing massage therapy for several years now. His studies started in the year 2000 at a school in Knoxville, Tennessee where his studies in anatomy, physiology and kinesiology were studied in considerable detail. Graduating with the most outstanding student award, he continues to strive to offer the best for his clients. Randy has continued his education with studies in Myofascial Release, Aromatherapy, Hot Stone Massage, Reflexology, Spa-Therapies, among many others. Most recently Randy is working towards his certification in Integrated Craniosacral Therapy. Randy has attended classes in Ohio, Illinois, Arizona, Minneapolis, Florida and Tennessee.

Randy craves knowledge in his field and enjoys learning new techniques in which he can bring back to his clients. In May 2014, Randy and his partner began a new chapter in their lives as they brought their talents, skills, and business to Middle, TN.

Darci Kimmerling | House of Delegates Delegate – Term: 3/4/17 until 3/30/19

After leaving a stressful career in corporate non-profit fundraising and moving to Tennessee, Darci Kimmerling discovered a love of massage. She graduated from Mind Body Institute in Nashville, Tennessee. An avid tennis player, and married to a golf enthusiast, her interests include sports-related Massage, Triggerpoint and Cupping Therapies. Her hobbies include tennis, traveling, downhill skiing, running, spinning, and watching her tween daughter’s swim meets.

Jennifer Sloan | Education Committee Chair

Jennifer Sloan has been a licensed massage therapist and AMTA member since 2005. After graduating from Alpha School of Massage in Nashville, she worked at a Chiropractors office. During that time, she started working with Mind Body Connection providing chair massage at Events. She later became the administrative manager at Mind Body Institute, LLC and in 2009 branched out to begin her own business in chair massage services to employees at several corporations. Jennifer continues to build her chair massage business both independently and working as an independent contractor for several event coordinators.

Jennifer started as a Volunteer for the TN chapter in 2008 and has been 2nd VP and has held the position of  the Education Chair since 2011.

Tammy Dunn | Education Committee Member

tammy dunnTammy Dunn left the corporate world of 20 years to pursue the long time desire to become a massage therapist. In June of 2010, she enrolled at Mind Body Institute to begin the pursuit. At MBI, a 700 hour therapeutic massage program, she gained experience in several modalities of massage. Included in her training was 100 hours of table massage at the school’s intern clinic, as well as over 30 hours of chair massage while volunteering at Hope Lodge. Tammy graduated from MBI in February of 2012, obtained her license, and began her practice under Elementals Massage in March of that same year. She has been an AMTA member since she was in massage school. Tammy is also a Level I & II Reiki practitioner.

Maggie Smitha | Membership Committee Chair

Maggie is a graduate of MBI and has been a practicing massage therapist since December of 2011. Since getting her license she has worked for the Massage Bar and Mind Body Connection as the event coordinator and a licensed massage therapist. She became the Administrative Assistant for MBI and MBC in January of 2013. Before going to massage school, Maggie earned a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education at UNC Greensboro.

Lindsay Jones | Communications Committee Member

lindsay_jonesLindsay Jones is a 2012 MBI graduate and joined AMTA while she was in school. She is employed in TN and works for Aqua Bella Day Spa. Despite her small size she excels and specializes in deep tissue! She has a Bachelor’s Degree from West Virginia University in cultural anthropology, is an AmeriCorps alumni and has a bit of travel experience under her massage belt with her favorite life traveler, her husband, Arik.

Giving back to others through massage, teaching and being involved in community service has always been important to her. She is thrilled and honored to be a volunteer for AMTA-TN chapter!
